Lessons

Over the summer I offer a lot of options beyond the traditional one-on-one piano lesson.

Each student registering will choose one option from each of the "Approaches", "Instruments" and "Formats" sections.

I recommend giving yourself some time to check out all of the options.

Please use the contact form at the bottom of the page if you have any questions.

Approaches

This summer, I am offering two different kinds of approaches:

Instrument Specific is exactly what you would expect from a private lesson experience; focus on one instrument, growing your skills in a more structured, practice-oriented way. Don't worry, there is still plenty of flexibility for student choice, creativity and exploration.

Exploratory is geared towards the general music learner. With this approach, you do not need to choose from the options in the "Instruments" section. We always go with the flow of student interest. Although it is welcome, there is no expectation of at-home practice and structured progress.

Instruments

Piano, Ukulele and Voice. These are the more well-known instruments that I teach. All ability levels are welcome. I generally recommend age 6 as a minimum for independent one-on-one lessons. Of course, each person has unique abilities and challenges. Please inquire if you are unsure.

Lap Harps and Desk Bells. I am so excited about this new offering. These intuitive instruments allow students as young as 4 to play songs right away. A great fit for the "Supported Lessons" format, or for students in the "Private/Buddy Lesson" formats that might not be ready for piano/ukulele.

Formats

Private Lessons. The standard lesson format. Generally best for ages 6+. Students choosing the "instrument-specific" approach are expected to be relatively independent with at-home practice.

Buddy Lessons. Share a 30-minute lesson with one or two friends. Perfect for people who want a social experience within a more tailored lesson. Maximum 3 students per slot.

Supported LessonsLessons for your child in which a parent/guardian attends to provide support. This format is great for students who might not be ready for independent lessons yet (especially ages 4-6). Essentially, I am teaching you how to directly facilitate your child's instrument learning at home.
